About This Project

Kumiko treasure chest, inspired by traditional Japanese pieces that include an intricate hand carved lattice-like detail often used in Shoji screens.

This box includes four small drawers plus a longer bottom drawer and a delicate sliding window to house the Kumiko. This can be used traditionally as a tea box, or as a beautiful jewellery or treasure box. This would make a very special gift for someone who would appreciate the one-of a kind details and an antique-like quality

The box is made with Red Oak and Pine for the drawers and the Kumiko is carved out of Ash.

Other features are half blind dovetails on each drawer and dovetails on the outer case and the sliding window. All of which are hand made and chiseled.
